MBELDEF
The nation’s only legal defense organization dedicated solely to defending the rights of minority business enterprises (MBEs) and minority entrepreneurs
MBELDEF is raising money now in a new capital campaign led by MBELDEF's Chairman of the Board, Don Roberts of Caracal Products and Services, to continue our fight for fairness on behalf of all minority-owned businesses.
A leader in legal advocacy, MBELDEF is THE leader in fighting anti-MBE legal challenges.
MBELDEF provides non-partisan education and research to help stakeholders design and defend programs that promote fairness.
MBELDEF promotes collaboration among MBE groups by providing briefings and working as an early warning against legal attacks.
We must act now
MBELDEF is fighting well-funded, well-organized extremist legal organizations determined to eliminate business diversity programs. These groups have friendly-sounding names, but they are anything but friendly. They include America First Legal, the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, the Pacific Legal Foundation, the Center for Individual Rights, the National Center for Policy Research, Do No Harm, the American Alliance for Equal Rights and the Alliance for Fair Board Recruitment. These anti-diversity legal groups work through intimidation, threats, lawsuits, and political pressure. They hope to stop all efforts to support MBEs and end all DEI initiatives. The last time they attempted a similar push on these issues in the 1990s, approximately half of the existing MBE programs were shut down. Our concern is that today’s new extremist legal foundations have limitless financial resources.
